How does Comodo AntiSpam Thwart 'Spam Bots'?

Every time you receive a mail from an unauthorized sender, AntiSpam's advanced Challenge-Response system alerts the sender to authenticate a non machine-readable graphic containing your authorization code. Spam Bots have no way to correctly answer these mails, ensuring you only ever receive confirmations from genuine contacts. This setting tells AntiSpam how you are connected to the Internet. When using a Dial-Up connection AntiSpam tries to send and receive the bare minimum amount of data over the Internet and still accomplish it's AntiSpam task.

AntiSpam Alert (ASA) messages are sent to senders of email who are unknown to you. This setting controls how the ASA Messages are sent. Here you have the options to send individual ASA messages in response to each incoming message from an unknown sender or you can choose to send one ASA message with multiple recipients. For example if you "get mail" and AntiSpam finds 20 messages from unknown senders you can have AntiSpam either send an individual ASA message to each of the 20 unknown senders or you can have AntiSpam send a single ASA message with 20 recipients.

Note: Each of the 20 (combined) recipients cannot see who the other recipients are (this is called Blind Carbon Copying or BCC).Send Auto-Authorized message once to imported addresses. This setting controls whether AntiSpam sends an "Auto-Authorized" message to in response to the first email from sender who you have imported into your Authentication Database from your email application. This is only done only once and is very much like a receipt.

Will Comodo AntiSpam integrate with my existing set up?

Comodo AntiSpam is compatible with all popular email clients, including Outlook, Outlook Express, Netscape Messenger, Eudora or any other POP3/SMTP email client accessing POP3/SMTP email accounts.

Can I feel secured spam free when I access my mails from various locations?

Our Server Synchronization feature allows you maintain spam-free email access from any remote computer with Comodo AntiSpam installed. If you alter rules on one machine, they are automatically transposed onto any machine you access mail from - you never lose the current state of your black and white lists or the authentication status of challenge emails. During the process of passcode authentication, each unknown sender is transitioned through multiple states of authentication. Server Synchronization allows you to save the state of each unknown sender on your email server. Server Synchronization enables you to access your email account from multiple computers while maintaining the Passcode Authentication state for unknown senders across each computer. The synchronization file is sent as an attachment to an email message to your email account (i.e. to yourself). If a synchronization message is found with a newer version, it is decompressed, decrypted, and merged into your local Comodo AntiSpam authentication files.

Mark the 'Enable Server Synchronization' checkbox on the 'Advanced Settings > Server Synchronization’ configuration screen to enable this feature. Follow the steps given below to configure server synchronization for a given account.

The following steps must be performed on each computer you intend to access the selected email account from.

• Make sure you have the desired Email Account selected in the Select Email Account Menu
• Select whether you want synchronization to be performed Daily, Weekly, Monthly or only Once
• Select the start Date and Time you wish to begin synchronization
• If you selected to perform Synchronization Daily, now select what time interval to during the day to perform synchronization.

At the prescribed time interval, Comodo AntiSpam will check to see if the state of any message's authentication status has changed. If it has, a synchronization file is compiled and sent to the email account's server. When downloading messages to your computer, Comodo AntiSpam first checks to see if there is a newer synchronization file on the server. If it finds one, it is opened, decompressed, decrypted and merged into the local Comodo AntiSpam synchronization data.

Can my genuine friends supply the passcode on the second or third attempt?

Configurable multi-attempt system allows genuine friends to incorrectly supply the passcode and still be allowed on to your white list on the second or third attempt. Passcode Attempts: This setting controls how many times a sender is allowed to attempt passcode authentication. Note: The default is 3. Send Graphic Passcode / Secret Passcode: These radio buttons control the sending or not sending of your passcode in a graphical attachment as part of the AntiSpam Alert message.
